extended, for the City to retaili 20 feet easement for utility purposes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Cduncilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Cloud that Ray
Rasmussen be paid his two week vacation pay from the Police fund. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Tuson for Rasmussen
to be paid his vacation pay on the same basis as he teceived when he was chief of Police.

A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Talen that the three
policemen be given four days vacation this year, to be worked out by Chief Grimstad.

A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Talen to accept the
bid from John Gillis, for the painting the water tank at a cost of $387.00. Motion carried.
As recommmend ed by the water committee a motion was made by councilman `bison and
seconded by councilman Kincaid that we call for bids for wire and cedar posts for the
fencing the 40 acres of water shed property. Motion carried.
A.motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Sommerseth that the
Engineer do the necessary survey for fencing this property. Motion carried.
A motidn was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Cloud to authorize
Attorney Holte to draw up an Ordinance that any property owner who hires a contractor to
put in a sewer in the street, must furnish a plan to the City to be put on file for
future reference. Motion carried.
One bid was received for the changing of the heating system in the building in the
amount of$2090 plus sales tax, from Freese Plumbing L Heating, and a bid from Jack
M: Stuart.for the wiring and changing the oil burner. A motion waa made by Council-
man Tuson and seconded by councilman Talen that we accept the bid from Freese Plum-
bing, and Heating. Motion. carried. .
A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Cloud that ire accept

A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman Sommerseth that
engineer Reid be authorized to establish the street grade on Alder street, 120 feet
east of Fifth Avenue. Motion carried.
Attorney Holte reported to the'Council that he had checked on the owners of the
streets bordering the city limits of Edmonds, they are as follows; Seventh avenue North
the City owns half and the County half, Ninth avenue the city owns half and the County
half, Pine street, from sixth Avenue West is owned by the County, Olympic Avenue is
owned by the County, Casper street one half is owned by the City and one half County,
Sixth avenue south of Pine is owned by the County, 220th is owned one half by the City
and one half by the County.

Mr. Haggbloom be authorized to break the curb and install an asphalt driveway to his
property, under the City specifications. Motion carried.

The Council met for its regular session with Mayor Maxwell presiding. The roll call
showed thefollowing councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Cloud, Bishop and
Sommerseth.
The water collectors report was read to the Council
A petition for annexation of the Grandview Addition to the city of Edmonds was read
to the Council. A motion was made by Councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman

Talen that the hearing be set for Sept 20, conditioned on the Attorney ascertaining
that 75% of the sp3�ope'rty, valuation is signed for. Motion carried.
Mr. Neil came before the Council with his plans for a twelve unit apartment that
he plans to build on Thi d.Avenue her� also has signatures of property owners within

by Councilman Talen that Sept. 20 be set for the date for the hearing on rezoning

Ddr. Main, who resided on Maple street, east of tenth avenue asks that the grade be
established. A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman
Bishop that the Engineer -establish the grade on Maple street from tenth avenue east
.to the end of the street. Motion carried.
The vacation of Hemlock street betmeen 8 and 9 avenue was set f or a hearing on October 4
by a motion made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman Bishop. Motion
carried.
Councilman Kincaid reported that the P. U. D. has donated oil to oil the streets in
the City park.
A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman Bishop that the
bills which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants be
drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Kincaid ands econded by councilman Bishop that the
bills for remodeling the library building be paid from other funds, as decided by
the Treasurer. Motion carried.
The Petition for annexation of B16cks 3 and 4 South Park Addition to Edmonds, was
set for a hearing on Sept. 20, on conditione-that Attorney Holte ascertain if 75%
of the property has signed the petition,Ahis was made a motion by councilman Kincaid
with a second from councilman Sommerseth. Motion carried.
The annexation of a portion of No rth�Edmonds by petition was set for a hearing on
Sept. 20, by a motion made by Councilman Tuson v ith a second from Councilman Bishop.
Motion carried.
This meeting was recessed until Friday night Sept. 9, for the making up the Prelim-
inary budget for 1956.

on the proposed improvement for Daley street, that the city pay the cost of
item"3 and 4 not to exceed $300,-and we furnish the grader for grading as necessary.
Motion carried.
The Council proceeded to making up the preliminary budget for 1956. Upon completion
of the preliminary budget, the Council ordered it be placed on file at the City Clerk's
office.

'This was the night set for the hearing on three annexations to the City o£.Edmondsi
No 1, all of Block 3 and 4. and lot 1 in Block 2�, in the South Park Addition to
Edmonds, there being no one objecting to the annexation_ a motion was made by Council-
man Tuson and seconded by Councilman Bishop that Ord. No. 666, annexating said property
to the City of Edmonds, be passed. Aiotion carried.
No. 2, for annexating the property N6rtheofrt4erCtty, chaniging the City limits from
Seventh avenue Hasth to Ninth avenue, thennorth to 196th, then to the north line of
Mr. Robins property. Because of no-abjbctioris to the annexation a motion was made
by"Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Sommerseth that Ordinance No.667 be
