City Clerk Mayor
January 17, 1956
The Council met for its regular session with Mayor Maxwell presiding. The roll.call
showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Cloud, Bishop and
Sommerseth.
The Treasurers report was read to the Council.
A letter was read from Walter Clausen in regards to the condition of the alley approach
on seventh avenue between Pain and Maple streets. This was referred to the street Supt.
A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Bishop and as rec-
ommended by the Street Committee that we purchase the ton 1953 Chevrolet pickup truck
for the street department, at a cost of $990.00, from hopper Chevrolet Co. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Talen that the salary
bills, the balance due Harry Squires for the Main street storm setter for P641.22, and the
bill from Olympic View Water District, $238.26, be paid and warrants be drawn on the
proper funds. Motion carried.
Mr. Thomas came before the Council with a plat to build 52 homes Southeast of the City.
A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Cloud, as. recommended
by the water committee, to purchase 1000 feet of 8 inch and 1000 feet of'6 inch, mechanical
joint, Class 150, cast iron pipe, bids to be opened February 7. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by Councilman Bishop that we call for
bids for copper tubing, 1680 feet of 3/4 inch and 420 feet of I inch, bids to be opened
February 7. Motion carried.
A -motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Talen that the fee for
installing a meter? inside the city be -raised from $65 to $80 for a'3/4 inch meter and
for the inch meter from $80 to $100. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by Councilman Tuson that Resolution
of Intention #124, for the improvement of Fourth Avenue be passed, after the Attorney
checks the petition for signatures, and February 21 be the date set for the preliminary
hearing. Motion carried.
The water committee recommended that a meeting be held January 31 to consider the sewer
hook-up for the new High school Building at Homes Corner.
A motion was made by councilman aoihmerseth and seconded by Councilman Tuson that the
Attorney investigate the request of Jack Trafton, asking to install a lift in the alley
to the A. B. Miller building. Motion carried.
The drainage problem on ninth avenue is to be discussed at the .next council meeting.
The problem of opening up ninth avenue from Sprague street to Main street is to be
discussed at our recessed meeting.

Chief of Volice Grimstad asked the council if they would consider taxing theAoperator for
punch boards, possibly $50 per month.
A motion was made by Councilman Sommerseth and seconded by Councilman Bishop that we recess
this meeting until next tuesday, January 24, Motion carried.
January 30, 1956
The Counicil met for the recessed meeting. A.motion was made by councilman Talen and
seconded by,/councilman Somm rseth that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.

February 7s, 1956
'Phe Council met for its regular session with Mayor Maxwell presiding. The boll call
showed the following councilmen present Talen, 4incaid, Cloud, Bishop, Sommerseth and
Steed.
The water(_Oollectors and Treasurers repprts were read to the Council and filed.
Two bids were received for the eight and six inch Cast Iron pipe. one from Iallgren Co.,
total bid of $4912.00 and one from United States Pipe & Foundry Co., total bid of $4665.00:
A motion was made by Councilman Talen and seconded by Councilman Kincaid that we accept the
bid from U. S. Pipe & Foundry Co., with delivery of 10 days after receipt of order. Motion
carried.
Four bids were received for copper tubing, one from Hallgren company for $1012.20, 15_,estern
Utilities Supply Co., P1,154.41, Chas. H., Harden Co, $1107.37, Pacific Tater Works Supply,
$1.058 4p. A mo tion was made by Councilman Talen and seconded by Councilman Cloud that we
accept the bid from Hallgren Co. Motion carried.
