June 6th 2019
The Edmonds Citizens' Tree Board Meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Co -Chair Vivian Olson in the Police
Training room in the city public safety building

CALL TO ORDER:
Co -Chair Vivian Olson called the meeting to order.
ROLL CALL:
All board members were present.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Agenda approved as presented.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The May meeting notes were approved with corrections
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Guest at the meeting was Denise Miller
OLD BUSINESS:
A) UFMP Status
Kernen discussed amendments and changes to the UFMP created by the Davies Group.
This updated UFMP has been presented to the UFMP citizens committee and should be approved within a month
by the Council.
B) Sno County PUD response to cutting trees on 3�d Ave
Steve commented that the City should have some say over PUD tree cutting, appears that the city declined to
prevent the topping of the Hornbeam trees. Steve will address Phil Williams ,PW director, regarding this matter. Bill
asked about City trees and Kernen pointed to city code chapter 20.13 covering tree coverage on private property
and also code 18.45 for city street trees.
C) Update on Tree Board table at Summer Market
Barbara reported the date will be September 7t" and that trees have been selected for the raffle.
D) Update for Arbor day on October
Vivian reported the date and location have been set, October 5tn at the Main street location where the Tree Board
planted earlier
NEW BUSINESS:
A) Report on McLellan garden tour.
Bill, Suzanne, Gail and Barbara visited the garden of Lilly McLellan, she is a Master Gardener, and described how
lovely the garden is and the abundance and variety of trees in the garden.
B) Dangerous trees on Main st above 9t" Ave
Kernen reported the trees are on private property and the city has reached out to the owner about the dangerous
situation caused by the trees overhang on Main st.
C) City Tree plan review
This project has been deferred until after the Edmonds In Bloom Garden Tour event
D) Team for Tree Tags for this July
E) Bill is working with Steve to get the tags in order to be installed before the 4tn of July. the team will be looking at
expanding the Tree ID tags to trees around the Library and FAC as well the fishing pier and city hall
F) Hiring contractor for Tree City USA certification
Tree Board recommends hiring the same contractor as last year and will let Shane Hope, Dev Services Director,
know.
TREE BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS:
The Tree Board meet on October Vi will need to be moved to a different location due to the Council Chambers
being booked for an event that evening.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
