I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Stephany Janssen called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm in room 123 in the Frances
Anderson Center, 700 Main St, Edmonds
Chairman read the Native American Land Statement
II. MINUTES - Approval of 10/16/19
Co -Chairman Kaleb Nichols moved to approve 9/18/19 meeting's minutes with one
revision: "September" was changed to "January"
Chairman StephanyJanssen seconded that motion
Motion passed unanimously
III. MEET WITH KATE PARKER
- Have an old clothing selling event on Frances Anderson Center lawn
- Have talks
- Have posters
- Be educational about the "reduce" step of being environmentally conscious
- Also be helpful for disadvantaged youth
- Possibly have a sustainability fair?
- Could be in a gym
- Have a clothing swap
- Advertise established environmental organizations
- In Spring

Couldn't endorse Venmo, but cash could be good
We could have it associated with an environmental youth forum in the spring
Co -Chairman Kaleb Nichols moved to continue moving forward with this plan

IV. SHARE AND VOTE TOPICS FOR NEXT FORUM
- Last meeting, we talked about having a Diversity Forum
- Wanted to incorporate LGBTQ+ Rights because it was a popular issue
- Other topics for diversity could be racial, socioeconomic, and gender
Co -Chairman Kaleb Nichols moved to have our next forum be diversity-themed
Alissa Berman seconded that motion
Motion passed unanimously
- We can have four subtopics if we have shorter transition times
Co -Chairman Kaleb Nichols moved to have our next forum have four sub -topics: LGBTQ+
Rights, Gender Issues, Racial Inequality, Socioeconomic Diversity

- WE NEED BETTER ADVERTISING
V. VOTE AND SELECT DATE FOR FORUM
- December
- We could also do a holiday food drive at the same time; people bring a can with them
Co -Chairman Kaleb Nichols moved to have our Diversity Forum on Tuesday, December
10 from 3:30 to 5:30 with setup time from 2:30 to 6:30

Motion passed unanimously
VI. ASSIGN GROUPS AND RESEARCH TOPICS
- Include a disclaimer about binary gender issues and LGBTQ+ Rights
- OUR GROUPS WILL BE:
- LGBTQ+ Rights will be Sydney and Owen
- Racial Inequality will be Caitlin and Emily
- Gender Issues will be Alissa and Stephany
- Socioeconomic Diversity will be Jacob and Brook
VII. WHAT IS HAPPENING IN EDMONDS?
- We discussed Edmonds news, including elections results
- Mike Nelson is winning

Sheriff who is cracking down on drug possession is winning
Initiate 976 was taxing cars and money would have gone to public transit, but was
poorly worded
Affirmative Action was also worded poorly
- Could we look at creating a simple youth voters guide?
