RESOLUTION NO. 150
A RESOLUTION TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS THE
AMENDMENT OF THE OFFICIAL ZONING ORDINANCE OF SAID CITY, SECTIONS 12.13.120,
12.13.160, 12.13.190 AND 12.13.240, BY ESTABLISHING NEW CRITERIA FOR SIGNS
IN RM, BN, BC, AND CW ZONES, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLANNING COMMISSION FILE
NOS. ZO-7-65 AND ZO-10-65.

WHEREAS, the matter of amendment to the Official Zoning Ordinance by
the establishment of new criteria for signs in RM, BN, BC, and CW zones came
on for public hearing on the 17th day of November, 1965 at 8:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, original public hearing dates to consider these amendments
had been set for the 18th day of August, 1965 for RM zones and the 15th day
of September, 1965 for BN, BC, and CW zones; and
WHEREAS, at the time and -dates set for said public hearings, it appeared
that proper notice and publication had been effected; and
WHEREAS, after much study and deliberation, it was determined by the
Planning Commission that the best interests of the citizens of Edmonds would
be served by the amendment of the Official Zoning Ordinance as follows:
Section 12.13.120, R_Ni zones - Signs in the maximum of 60 square feet
total, with the same restrictions as the BN zone;
Section 12.13.160, Bpi zones - Signs in the maximum of 150 square feet
total, with no change in the -remaining restrictions;
Section 12.13.190 BC zones - Signs in the maximum of 150 square feet per
building, with the restriction added that flashing, blinking, or moving
lights must be turned off by 11:30 p.m. In addition, a shopping center
in the BC zone with three or more stores or units may have an additional
sign of 150 square feet advertising the center as a whole. Flashing,
blinking, or moving lights on such a sign must be turned off by 11:30 p.m.
Signs may not exceed the permitted building height.
Section 12.13.240, CW zones - Signs in the maximum of 150 square feet
total, with no sign to exceed the permitted building height. No change
in the remaining restrictions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Planning Commission of the City
of Edmonds that recommendation be made to the City Council of said City that
the Official Zoning Ordinance of the City of Edmonds be amended as set forth
herein above.
