RESOLUTION NO: 502
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDMONDS RECOMgENDING
APPROVAL OF A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO SECTION 12.13.190 (C) OF
THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO PERMIT AUCTIONS IN THE COMMUNITY BUSINESS
DISTRICT (BC) WITH CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS.
WHEREAS, The Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds
pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on
a proposal to amend the community business district regulations of
the zoning ordinance to permit auctions excluding vehicle and live-
stock auctions.
WHEREAS, an auction is a form of retail selling and retail
selling is a permitted activity in the community business zone, and
WHEREAS, auctions are most frequently held at times that
do not coincide with peak retailing activities, and
WHEREAS, certain commodities are incompatible with retail
activities permitted in the community business zone are excluded such
as vehicle and livestock auctions, and
WHEREAS, permitting limited auctions in the community
business zone is not detrimental to the public health, safety and
welfare, now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission forwards to the
City Council of the City of Edmonds the proposed amendment to the
Official Zoning Ordinance as set forth in Exhibit "A' attached, and
recommends it be adopted.
