RESOLUTION NO. 514
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING APPROVAL
OF A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO SECTION 12.13.130(g) OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO
ALLOW UNOCCUPIED WEATHER PROTECTION ICJ SETBACKS FOR RM SECTIONS AS SET FORTH
IN EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED (FILE #ZO-8-76)
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds pursuant to
proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on a proposal to amend
Section 12.13.130(g) of the Zoning Ordinance to allow unoccupied weather
protection in setbacks for RM sections; and
WHEREAS, many of the tenants of multiple dwelling structures in
the RM zones are elderly and rely on transportation provided to them; and
WHEREAS, there is frequent inclement weather in the Northwest;
and
WHEREAS, in order to provide this protection within the building
setback lines would impose substantial constraints on the structure within
the allowable building area, now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission recommends to the
City Council of said City that the proposed amendment to Section 12.13.130(g)
of the Zoning Ordinance as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached be approved.

Building area allowable - must include exception 12.12.030 B terms
Add the following to 12.13.130 (g)
Unoccupied weather protection may extend into the required setbacks in
the RM zones provided:
I. The City Engineer determines that vehicular and pedestrian
safety is ensured.
2. No portion of the structure may extend into the public right-
of-way, public easements or over an adjoining property.
3. The total site area covered by the structure in the setback
area shall not exceed 400 square feet.
4. Any enclosure of the structure shall be within the allowable
building area.
5. Allowable height shall not exceed one story.
6. The structure shall conform in all respects to building code
requirements.
