Resolution 522PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 522 A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY TO ESTABLISH AN OPEN SPACE OR PLAYFIELD ZONE AT THE EDMONDS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (FILE #ZO-3-76) WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds, pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the Official Zoning Map of said city to designate an appropriate land use on the Edmonds Elementary School site, bounded by Main Street, 8th Avenue South, Dayton Street and Durbin Street; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined from testimony presented by Edmonds School District #15 that said site had been desig- nated surplus and would be put up for sale pending approval by the voters; and WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds, the neighboring property owners and the School Board have an interest in determining the future use of said property before the property is sold; and WHEREAS, the playlot east of the existing school buildings, and the tennis courts on the west end of the property are used extensively by many Edmonds residents; and WHEREAS, homeowners in the neighborhood are opposed to any multiple family zoning on this site; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the use of the playfield, tennis courts and building should be preserved for public use and should therefore be given an "open space" or "playfield" zone; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission recommends and forwards to the City Council that the proposed designation of "open space" or "play field" on the Edmonds Elementary School si;e be approved. h.�/BK,15frPlanning -Commission ti ng Edmonds City Planner FILE #ZO-3-76 HEARING: 8-11-76
