RESOLUTION NO. 523
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING
THAT THE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PROPERTY NOT BE GIVEN A ZONING DESIGNATION
UNTIL THE CITY COUNCIL HAS INVESTIGATED THE CONTINUED PUBLIC USE OF
THIS PROPERTY (FILE #ZO-4-76)
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds,
pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on a
proposed amendment to the Official Zoning Map of said city to designate
an appropriate land use on the Edmonds Junior High School site; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined from testimony
presented by Edmonds School District #15 that said site had been desig-
nated surplus and would be put up for sale pending approval by the
voters; and
WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds, neighboring property
owners and the School Board have an interest in determining the future
use of said property before the property is sold; and
WHEREAS, the auditorium and other facilities in the
Junior High School building are used by the public; and
WHEREAS, the options available to retain the Junior High
School in public ownership should be explored by the City Council; now
therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission recommends
and forwards to the City Council that no zoning be established at the
Edmonds Junior High School site until the City Council has investigated
the possibility of retaining this site in publA,'?rd4m&rds
