RESOLUTION NO. 526
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING
APPROVAL OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE COMPREHENSIVE POLICY PLAN TO CHANGE
THE PARKING REQUIREMENTS FROM THREE (3) SPACES PER 1,000 SQUARE FEET
TO ONE (1) SPACE PER 600 SQUARE FEET OF GROSS BUILDING AREA, AS SET
FORTH IN EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED (FILE #CP-1-76)
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds
pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing
on a proposal to amend the Comprehensive Policy Plan to change the
parking requirements on a gross area from three (3) spaces per 1,000
square feet, to one (1) space per 600 square feet, and
WHEREAS, the amount of parking required to retain the "small
town atmosphere" is not as great as that presently indicated by the
Comprehensive Policy Plan, and
WHEREAS, the amount of parking required to meet the demands
for parking in the downtown area is not as great as the Policy Plan
indicates, and
WHEREAS, the amount of landscaping necessary for "providing
for a more liveable, beautiful and successful downtown" precludes the
amount of parking presently indicated by the Comprehensive Policy Plan,
now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission recommends and
forwards to the City Council of said City that the amendment contained
in Exhibit "A" attached hereto be approved.
