RESOLUTION NO. 532
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING
APPROVAL OF PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO SECTION 12.12.140 OF THE ZONING CODE
TO CHANGE THE DEFINITION OF MOTEL, MOTOR. HOTEL AND HOTEL (ZO-16-76)
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds pursuant
to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on a proposal
to amend Section 12.12.140 of the Zoning Code to change the definition
of Motel, Motor Hotel and Hotel; and
WHEREAS, the present definition of Hotel, Motor Hotel, and
Hotel does not clearly distinquish between that type of facility and
an apartment unit; and
WHEREAS, the number of parking spaces required for a Hotel/
Motel unit is one (1) space per unit, and for an apartment unit is
two (2) spaces per unit; and
WHEREAS, there is a finding of no significant adverse environ-
mental impact on the proposed amendment; and
WHEREAS, said amendment is necessary to promote the public
health, safety and general welfare; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission recommends and
forwards to the City Council of said City that the proposal to amend
Section 12.12.140 of the Zoning Code to change the definition of Motel,
Motor Hotel, and Hotel, as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto,
be adopted.

connected units or designed as a single structure, the units of which
are used as individuaZ sZeeping units having their own private toilet
facilities and may or may not have their own kitchen facilities, and
are designed primarily for the accommodation of transient guests. De-
sign for the accommodation of transient guests incZude the foZZowing:
1. The encZosed gross area per unit shaZZ not exceed
360 square feet; and
2. There shaZZ onZy be one (1) area specificaZZy
designed for sZeeping.
This term incZudes tourist court, motor Zodge, auto court, cabin
court, motor inn and similar names. Accommodations for trailers are
not incZuded.

EXHIBIT "A"
HOTEL/MOTEL is a building or buildings, in connected units
or designed as a single structure, the units of which are
used as individual sleeping units having their own private -
toilet facilities and may or may not have their own kitchen
facilities, and are designed primarily for' the accommodation
of transient guests. Design for the accommodation of transient
guests include the following:
