RESOLUTION NO. 537
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING
APPROVAL OF A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO SECTION 12.13.040 OF THE ZONING
CODE RELATING TO SETBACKS FOR ACCESSORY BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds
pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on
a proposal to amend the Zoning Ordinance Section 12.13.040 relating
to setbacks for accessory buildings and structures; and
WHEREAS, the present regulations for accessory buildings
are inadequate to preserve the single family neighborhood character-
istics; and
WHEREAS, the present regulations governing accessory
structures allows potential abuses particularly in setback areas;
and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to clarify the regulation of
the location of an accessory structure in relation to another
structure on the site; and
WHEREAS, the proposed amendment to Section 12.13.040
is necessary to promote the public health, safety and general wel-
fare; and
WHEREAS, there is a finding of no significant adverse
environmental impact on the proposed amendment; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that recommendation be and the same
hereby is made to the City Council of the City of Edmonds that the
proposed amendment, as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto,
be approved.

2. Permitted accessory buildings and structures shall include the following:

(1) Area: Maximum square footage of coverage shall not exceed I- 000

(3) Height: Maximum height shall be fifteen (15) feet except amateur
radio towers.
