A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS
RECOMMENDING DENIAL OF A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE OFFICIAL
STREET MAP TO ADD 6TH AVENUE SOUTH, BETWEEN THE EXISTING
CUL-DE-SAC AND THE NORTHERLY DEAD-END OF 6TH AVENUE SOUTH,
SERVING PARADISE LANE AS SET FORTH IN FILE #ST-3-77
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of
Edmonds, pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a
public hearing on a proposal to amend the Official Street
Map to add 6th Avenue South, between the existing cul-de-sac
and the northerly dead-end of 6th Avenue South, serving
Paradise Lane; and
WHEREAS, an alternative route would serve this
area by a connection between 7th Avenue South and Birch
Street as shown on the Official Street Map; and
WHEREAS, the steep slopes on the site would
result in a steep and potentially hazardous street grade;
and
WHEREAS, the 6th Avenue connection could have
environmental implications for the stream running through
the site; and
WHEREAS, the extension of 6th Avenue South
would disrupt an established neighborhood; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission
recommends and forwards to the City Council of said City,
that the proposed amendment to the Official Street Map to
add 6th Avenue South, between the existing cul-de-sac
and the northerly dead-end of 6th Avenue South, serving
Paradise Lane, as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto,
be denied.
