RESOLUTION NO. 559
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS
RECOMMENDING DENIAL OF A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE
OFFICIAL ZONING MAP TO REZONE CERTAIN PROPERTY ON 84TH
AVENUE WEST FROM RS-8 (SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO
RD (RESEDENTIAL DUPLEX) AS SET FORTH IN FILE #R-3-77
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of
Edmonds, pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a
public hearing on a proposal to amend the Official Zoning
Map to rezone certain property on 84th Avenue West from
RS-8 (Single Family Residential) to RD (Residential Duplex);
and
WHEREAS, the site is bordered to the north and
east by established single family zoned neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, increases in density tend to have
undesirable impacts on the neighborhood by increasing
traffic and producing congestion on local streets; and
WHEREAS, a reasonable use of the property can be
made under the existing RS-8 zoning; and
WHEREAS, this proposal is in conflict with
recent City actions designed to maintain or decrease
existing residential densities; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission
recommends and forwards to the City Council of said City,
that the proposed amendment to the Official Zoning Map
as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto, be denied.
