RESOLUTION NO. 259
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING THE
DENIAL OF A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY
TO DESIGNATE AS MULTIPLE RESIDENCE LOW DENSITY (RML) THAT PROPERTY DESCRIBED
IN PLANNING COMMISSION FILE NO. R-18-67.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds, pursuant
to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on a proposed
amendment to the Official Zoning Map of said City for redesignating the
real property described in Planning Commission File No. R-18-67 from Single
Residential 6,000 Square Feet (RS-6) to Multiple Residence Low Density (RML);
and
WHEREAS, having made the findings set forth in Exhibit "A"
attached hereto, the Planning Commission determined that the real
property described in Exhibit "B" attached hereto should not be
redesignated; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of said City that
recommendation be and the same hereby is made to said City Council
that the proposed amendment be denied.

The proposal conflicts with the Land Use portion of the Comprehensive
Plan, and calls for an extension southward of an already lengthy
apartment zone. The continued extension of this apartment zone
weakens the strength of the downtown apartment and business area,
where the center of population and business activity should rightly
be located.

All that portion of the south half of the southwest quarter of
northwest quarter of southwest quarter of Section 25, Township 27
North, Range 3 East, W.M., lying north of State Road 1-W and south
of county road; EXCEPT the west 262.90 feet of said southwest
quarter of northwest quarter of southwest quarter, measured on the
north line; and EXCEPT the following described tract:
Beginning at a point on the south line of said southwest quarter
of northwest quarter of southwest quarter 15 feet west of south-
east corner thereof; thence north 10 east 95.54 feet to southerly
line of county road; thence northwesterly along southerly line of
county road 168.19 feet; thence south 10 west 71.94 feet; thence
north 88°321 west 260.05 feet, more or less, to northerly line of
State Road 1-W; thence southeasterly along northerly line of said
State Road 236.05 feet, more or less, to a point on the south line
of said subdivision, 180 feet west of southeast corner thereof;
thence south 88032' east 165 feet to the true point of beginning.
