Resolution 265PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION N0; 265 A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING AN AMENDMENT TO THE OFFICIAL ZONING ORDINANCE, SECTION 12.13.280 E, TO ESTABLISH HEIGHT AND SIZE CRITERIA FOR SIGNS IN THE GENERAL COMMERCIAL (CG) ZONE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLANNING COMMISSION FILE NO. ZO-7-67. WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds, pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on a proposed amendment to Section 12.13.280 E of the Official Zoning Ordinance of said City to establish height and size criteria for signs in the General Commercial (CG) zone; and WHEREAS, having made the findings set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto, the Planning Commission determined that the Official Zoning Ordinance, Section 12.13.280 E, should be amended as proposed and set forth in Exhibit "B" attached hereto; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of said City that recommendation be and the same hereby is made to the City Council of the City of Edmonds that Section 12.13.280 E of the Official Zoning Ordinance be so amended. The proposed changes are necessary to keep advertising structures within a reasonable height and to provide a more understandable guideline by which the Building Official may determine the permitted size of signs. EXHIBIT '.'B" Section 12.13.280 E shall be amended as follows: 1. Signs and advertising structures shall not exceed the building height permitted in the zone classification. 2. Sign copy or background areas (whichever is larger) shall not exceed 200 of the building facade area facing on a public street. Maximum letter height in a facade sign shall not exceed 200 of the facade height. The area of free-standing signs shall be computed as part of the 200 of the building facade area. 3. Signs and. . . .
