RESOLUTION NO. 605
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING
APPROVAL OF A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO SECTION 12.14.020(H)(2) OF THE
EDMONDS ZONING CODE TO ALLOW UP TO 25% COMPACT CAR STALLS IN ALL
REQUIRED PARKING AREAS AS SET FORTH IN FILE #ZO-8-78
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds,
pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing
on a proposal to amend the Zoning Code to allow up to 25% compact
car stalls in all required parking areas; and
WHEREAS, approximately one-half of the cars sold today
are compact or sub -compact in size; and
WHEREAS, the use of compact stalls permits greater
flexibility in parking lot design; and
WHEREAS, smaller parking area requirements encourage
the use of more landscaping and less impervious surface; and
WHEREAS, there is a finding of no significant adverse
environmental impact on the proposed amendment; and
WHEREAS, said amendment is necessary to promote the
public health, safety and general welfare; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission recommends
and forwards to the City Council of said City that the proposed
amendment to the Edmonds Zoning Code as set forth in Exhibit "A"
attached hereto, be approvF4d.

Section 12.14.020 (11) (2) (b) of the Edmonds City Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
b. _Compact Car Dimensicns. Minimum standards
for off street parking area lot dimensions where compact
car spaces are permitted shall be not less than as shown
on Figure 2, MINIMUM PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPACT CARS.
