RESOLUTION NO. 329
A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOM-
MENDING AN AMENDMENT TO THE OFFICIAL ZONING ORDINANCE, SECTION
12.13.150, TO REMOVE DUPLEXES AND APARTMENTS FROM THE LIST OF
PERMITTED USES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS ZONE (BN ZONE) AS
SET FORTH IN PLANNING COMMISSION FILE NO. ZO-1-70
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of
Edmonds, pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a
public hearing on a proposed amendment to Section 12.13.150
of the Official Zoning Ordinance to remove duplexes and apart-
ments from the list of permitted uses in the Neighborhood
Business Zone (BN Zone); and
WHEREAS, having made the findings set forth in
Exhibit "A" attached hereto, the Planning Commission deter-
mined that the Official Zoning Ordinance, Section 12.13.150,
should be amended; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of said
City that recommendation be and the same hereby is made to
the City Council of the City of Edmonds that Section 12.13.150
of the Official Zoning Ordinance be so amended.

The.Neighborhood Business Zone serves a special
function in that it provides a location for retail
businesses and personal services for the.day-to=day
needs of people within limited.residential areas.
The.function of this zone is diminished*.by.the.pre-
sence of duplex and apartment structures, therefore
these residential uses should be prohibited.
Also the.BN Zones.established throughout the
City are relativeloy f the land
area within these zones should be utilized for
business uses.
