Resolution 330PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 330 A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMEND- ING DENIAL TO THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE OFFICIAL ZONING ORDI- NANCE ESTABLISHING A "WATERFRONT ZONE WHICH WOULD ALLOW ONE DWELL- ING UNIT PER 900 SQ. FT. OF SITE AREA, REQUIRE 1.5 PARKING SPACES PER DWELLING UNIT, ESTABLISH NO HEIGHT RESTRICTION AND CONTROL THE SIZE OF BUILDINGS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLANNING COMMISSION FILE NO. ZO-2-69. WHEREAS, the.Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds, pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the.Official Zoning Ordinance of said City to establish a waterfront zone allowing one dwelling unit per 900 Sq. Ft. of site area, requiring 1.5 parking spaces per dwelling unit, establishing no height.restriction and controlling the size of buildings; and WHEREAS, having made the findings set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto, the Planning Commission determined that amend- ment should not be made; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED.by the Planning Commission of said City that recommendation be and the same hereby is made to said City Council that the proposed amendment be denied. The construction of tall buildings along the waterfront will destroy the small town character- istics of Edmonds which are desired by'the.residents. The proposed reduction in the off-street parking requirement would cause serious on -street parking problems. Adopting the proposed regulations would not benefit the City.
