It was the findings of the Planning Commission that Section 12.13.120
(b), Secondary Uses in RM Districts, to regulate signs in said districts,
should be amended for the following reasons:
(1) The regulation of signing in close proximity to residence is
in the interest of protecting the health, safety, and general
welfare of the public.
(2) Present sign regulations are not compatible with residential
land uses.
(3) For rent signs are not regulated in the code of the City of
Edmonds and many such signs appear to remain indefinitely.
(4) The appearance of unregulated signs along thoroughfares is
a threat to public safety.
