Resolution 498PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO: 498 A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS RECOMMENDING DENIAL OF A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS TO CHANGE THE ZONING DESIGNATION OF THAT AREA DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "A' FROM RESIDENTIAL SINGLE FAMILY MINIMUM LOT SIZE 8,000 SQ. FEET (RS8) TO RESIDENTIAL MULTI -FAMILY LOW DENSITY (RML) WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Edmonds pursuant to proper notice and publication, held a public hearing on a proposal to amend the official zoning map of the City of Edmonds to change the zoning designation of that area described in Exhibit "A' from Residential Single Family Minimum lot size 8,000 sq. feet (RS8) to Residential Multi -family Low Density (RML). WHEREAS, the character of the neighborhood near the pro- posed rezone is Single Family and residents expressed a desire that it remain single family in character, and WHEREAS, the traffic generated would adversely affect the neighborhood streets nearby, and WHEREAS, there is no demonstrated need in the community for additional zoning of this nature due to the fact that there are sub- stantial quantities of land already zoned for Multi -Family use that are vacant or otherwise not being used for such purposes, therefore BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission forwards to the City Council of the City of Edmonds the proposed amendment to the Official Zoning Code as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached, and recommends it be denied.
