S, Apt. #F207 Federal Way, WA 98003 Subject: Storage room doors Dear Mr. Talbot: Regarding the Fire Department requirement and suggested proposal for modification of the storage room doors at the 5th Avenue Condominiums, I have since reviewed the following items: • Requirements of construction under the 1962 uniform building code. • The completed upgrade of there of the doors( to living spaces) in question. • The installation of smoke detectors in the corridor. • The relatively hazard free fire safety inspection history and safety conscious ownership. • Uniform Fire Code sec. 102.1, retroactive allowance for existing conditions. • Uniform Fire Code sec. 1209, requirements for maintaining a rated corridor. The fire department feels that nothing more can be gained by replacing or upgrading the storage room doors, so the requirement previously made is removed. I apologize for the long deliberation on this issue. Please call my office if you have any further questions, 771-0215 x301.
