On March 4, 2009 you received a conditional use permit for an Accessory Dwelling Unit
from our Planning Department. One of the conditions of approval was that you apply for
and obtain a building compliance permit to legally construct the ADU within the
downstairs of your home. In order to make progress on the intended ADU, please submit
your building permit application for the proposed ADU within the next two weeks — by
Septemberl8th, 2009. I have included the handouts and applications required for this
process.
If you are doing any alterations/remodeling of your space you would need to submit 2
sets of your working drawings at this time. (Handout #B61) If you are not doing any
changes or remodeling, we require 2 copies of your floor plan showing code compliance.
This is explained on page 4 of the ADU handout.

Please note that owner -occupied ADUs are a permitted use in the City of Edmonds, however an
ADU permit is required prior to establishing the unit.
Please ensure that you and your realtors disclose to any prospective buyers that a permit is required
,before the `.`rewarding investment opportunity" is pursued. The same permit would be required
should you decide to pull the property off the market and live at the property with an ADU.
