Box 1044: Edmonds, WA 98020 February 8, 2016 Ms. JoAnne Zulauf, Engineering Technician City of Edmonds Public Works Department 1215th Avenue North Edmonds, WA. 98020 Dear Ms. Zulauf, This is James Forrer, President of the Maplevine Condominium Association in Edmonds, WA. This letter and attached USB drive are regarding our water incursion problem that occurred 1/21/16 at 10714th Avenue South in Edmonds. I have enclosed a USB drive containing a video that was taken the day of our water incursion 1/21/16 by Jack Austin, President of the Calais Condominium Association in Edmonds, WA. The video shows the water coming out of the rocks below the fence belonging to the Edgewood Condominium and onto property owned by the Calais Condominium Association. It also shows the sandbag barrier that we, the Maplevine Condominium Association placed, with the permission of Calais, in order to prevent said water from flowing downhill and into our building and elevator pit. I also have two pictures of an unfinished pit or hole at the Northwest corner of the Edgewood's new fenced area right above where the water comes from. I will be sending you those pictures via a separate email. As of the writing of this letter, these are the basic conditions that still exist today. It is still our contention, that the flow of water from beneath the new fence at the Edgewater Condominium at 1110 5th Avenue South is a condition that did not exist before. I would like to point out that we did not have a water incursion problem before and we have co -existed with the Edgewood for many years under very rainy conditions. The soil conditions between the two buildings are not new either. The Maplevine has no problem, in, principal, working on a mutually acceptable soil enhancement program involving our three condominiums such as you suggest. While valuable in many respects, we do not believe for a minute that our building will be out of danger unless the water flow from beneath the Edgewater's fence is curtailed! I would like to note that I do not represent the Calais Condominium Association and this situation also involves their property. Any solution needs to be acceptable to their interests. Jack's phone number is (425) 985-1655 and their association email is 'calais.condo.board@gmail.com'. Thank you so much for your prompt attention to this matter!
