AGENDA A MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER HALL, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER GOODHOPE, TO RESCHEDULE ITEM. HEMFIRST ITEM ON CARRIED, THE AGENDA BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE .PRESENT FOR THAT ION 4;=847' REZONE-BY ZOAveYNPETITION5t.Rezon6th Ave ,N,tandaMainfSthefromeCommunityaBusiness (BC) to Single Family Residential.6,000;.(RS4) Ms. Charleson said a number of neighbors in the area of the proposeitd rezone had submitted the petition. She shc,rec the site on a viciny map, noting that the use to the north of the site is the Edmonds Civic Center, to the east the entire block is RMH, and to the west and south is BC. She showed slides of the area, calling attention to the general character of the neighborhood which has older, wood frame structures. There is an antique store at the corner of the site bordered by 6th and Bell Sts. which would become nonconforming if the proposed rezone were approved. There is also an apartment building in the area which would become nonconforming if the area were rezoned to RS-6. Ms. Charleson explained that nonconforming commercial uses would have to come into con- formance within 15 years after the rezone, but that the apartment building would not be affected. One of the reasons given by the petitioners had to do with incompatible uses in the neighborhood, and they felt that the one apartment building already on the block was not in character with the other homes,neighborhood.anMs. Charleson tnoted was tthat yif itto rwere vtotbe RShe a6acter of he d their there was
