Dear Mr. Allen:
.This is in response to your letter of April 15, 1976, to Dr. Claris Hyatt
regarding requests for tests and information of possible pollution in the
area of 158th Ave. West, North Meadowdale Road, and 75th Ave. West generally I
referred to as Unit 7. Attached are'the results of a survey made by Terry
Mattson.from this office along with water sample results and an evaluation
of these results.
I believe this area generally is the same as Unit 7 which the City of Edmonds`.

and reaffirmed by letter dated June 5, 1972,JweJrecommended that na sewge�R�

disposal pernxts be; issued i1n this area.> Conditions of poor soil namely'Yb1vle
clay"combined with steep terrain, `high"water table, remain the same making
this unsuitable for the' use of septic tank and drainfield as a method of sewage
disposal. The results of the survey and of the water samples clearly indicate
surface water is being contaminated by these failing individual sewage disposal
systems. As you may know sewage effluent from individual sewage disposal systems
that reach the surface of the ground are in violation of Snohomish Health District
regulations as well as the State Board of Health regulations relative to sewage
disposal.
Thus the Snohomish Health District would urge that this area be served by sanitary
sewers as soon as possible to reduce the potential of a public health hazard that
exists due to inadequate sewage disposal systems.
