RANKIN JEWELLERS On behalf of the Planning Division, I have reviewed the revisions submitted for J. Rankin Jewellers permit application. There are still two items that need to be resolved before I can approval the application. Please respond to the following: Size. 1. The maximum sign area is 22 square feet. As revised the proposed the sign will be 23.73 square feet. I calculated the sign area as follows: (22” x 140” = 3,080 sq in) + ((8.95” + 4.55”) x 25” = 337.5 sq in) => 3,417.5 sq in/144 sq in => 23.73 sq ft. The sign area may not exceed 22 sq ft. Revise as needed. Internal Illumination. 2. Internal illumination of the sign is permitted only if certain conditions are met. Refer to ECDC 20.60.020M2. One of those conditions is that only the letters be lit. Therefore, the diamond cannot be illuminated. I would like to get this permit issued, as I’m sure your client is anxious. You may red-line the plans tomorrow, if you are available. And I will do my best to review it as soon as I am able. I will be in the office all day tomorrow and then back on Wednesday next week. Please be advised that we will not be able to issue the permit as soon as you make the corrections, but likely within 24 to 48 hours of my completed review. Please make all submittals to a Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
