S Dear Mr. Schmaus: I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division, and it was found that the following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be addressed before review can continue: Geotechnical Letter 1.: Since the residence is located within the minimum required 50-foot buffer plus 15-foot building setback from the top of the steep slope, a letter is required from your geotechnical engineer addressing the removal of the residence. The letter should state that your geotechnical engineer has reviewed ECDC 23.40 and 23.80 and that the removal of the residence is in compliance with the requirements of these critical areas code chapters and will not compromise the stability of the slope. The letter should provide any recommendations your geotech has for site stabilization, consistent with the requirements of ECDC 18.30, during and after the demolition of the residence. Will any stock piles be stored on site during the demolition? If so, where does your geotech recommend that they should be located, and should they be covered? Should a silt fence, or other method for temporary erosion control, be placed near the top of the slope to avoid materials going onto the slope during the demolition? Any additional recommendations your geotech may have regarding the removal of the residence should also be provided within the letter. Please make all submittals to a Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.
