AWNING REPLACEMENT AT 100 5TH AVENUE NORTH
Dear Mr. Langston,
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. Before I can sign
off on the permit, however, the following information needs to be clarified in a written response:
Awning Material: In the submitted Proposal and Purchase Agreement, it appears that the
awning frame will be constructed of a milled tubular aluminum. On the same sheet, the
awning fabric is indicated as `Patio 500, 17 oz. vinyl; color # '. According to ECDC
22.43.040.B.7: "Nonstructural awnings should be constructed using canvas or fire-
resistant acrylic materials. Shiny, high -gloss materials are not appropriate; therefore, vinyl
or plastic awning materials are not permitted." Please verify the type of material selected
for the awning and its color; if a material sample is available, that would be ideal.
Please make all submittals to a Permit Coordinator, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
