Please be advised, sanitary violations of the Uniform Housing Code constitute a sanitation nuisance and jeopardizes the habitability of your home. Based on the Police report dated 10/13/01 and follow-up investigation by Adult Protective Services I have substantial evidence to determine that violations of the 1997 edition of Uniform Housing Code exist at your residence. Therefore, as Building Official for the City of Edmonds I hereby declare your residence to be Unsafe and Unfit for Duman Habitation and order you to immediately vacate the premises. Attached is the official Notice and Order to Abate dated October 30, 2001 which requires you to vacate the residence and initiate clean up. Be advised, pursuant to Uniform Housing Code Section 1201.3 you have the ability to appeal this decision within ten (10) business days date from this letter. The deadline for appeal is 5:00p.m. November 13, 2001. In order to file an appeal you must provide a letter of appeal and filing fee of $500.00 to Development Services, 2nd Floor, Edmonds City Hall. Failure to appeal shall relinquish your administrative appeal rights in this matter. It is not the City's intent to cause you undue hardship however, compliance to the codes is mandatory for the fair and equal treatment of all citizens. Furthermore, my duty as Building Official is to assure minimum standards to safeguard life, limb, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the use and occupancy and maintenance of all residential buildings within this jurisdiction.
