During review of the resubmitted plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following
information, clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to where the
changes can be found on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents to a Permit Coordinator.

Your response, dated February 7 to the comment below, indicated beam calculations from Dunn
Lumber were to be included and would justify the beams identified on the plans. The beam
calculation that was submitted was from Parker Lumber, dated 1/13/2011. This calculation was for
one beam, and identified a 3-1/8x 12 glue-lam beam as the correct size for the load.
If the wrong calculations were provided, resubmit the package that you would like to use. If the
Parker Lumber calcs are to be used, the 4x10 beam needs to be addressed.
Either way, in order to avoid confusion in the field, the correct sized beam, along with the species
and grade, needs to be identified on the plans. For example, a DFL select structural beam may have
2 times the load bearing capacity as a HF#2 beam the same size.
1.The two main garage beams appear to be undersized. Indicate the species, grade, and provide
beam calculations for the 4x10 and 4x12 proposed beams.
