Project: Deck
Project Address: 746 Edmonds Street
During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to where the changes can
be found on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents to a Permit Coordinator.
1.Provide construction details for the deck ledger connection.
2.Grade and species of framing members.
3.All wood exposed to weather shall be pressure preservative treated or naturally decay resisistant.
Identify the wood including the species, grade, and PT. All fasteners, hangers or hardware in
contact with PT wood to be stainless steel, hot dipped galvanized, ZMax or equivalent.
4.Identify the surface materials, e.g. 5/4 cedar, Trex, etc.
5.A beam check indicates the 4x8 beam fails to support the proposed floor loads. Provide beam
calculations to show that the beam supports the floor loads.
6.Steps or landings are proposed near the existing windows. Indicate the method for safety glazing
compliance with R308.4.6 (glazing adjacent to stairs and ramps). A rail (handrail) may be
installed from 34-38” above the walking surface or the glazing shall be safety glazed due to its
hazardous location.
