Co. Contractor: Babbit Neuman Const. Co. ZGA Field Rep: Nick Millman Permit No.: BLD20150223 Date: 08-26-2015 Arr./Dep. Time: 10:10 am / 10:50 am Equipment Tracked excavator Weather Sunny, 70 Used: We arrived at the request of the client to observe receptor soil conditions for the site infiltration facilities. A summary of our observations and recommendations is presented below. Southwest Infiltration Facility Upon arrival, the contractor was in the process of excavating the southwest infiltration facility. The approximate location of theexcavation is shown in the attached site plan (page 2 of 3). The contractor indicated that he had spoken with the civil engineer, and was relocating two of the four StormTech chambers from the abandoned NW facility to the SW facility currently under construction. The excavation at the SW facility revealed a zone of dark, silty, organic soil at a depth of 7 feet, near where Test Pit #2 had been completed. We determined that this was likely backfill from the test pit, and recommended that the contractor remove it. We observed the contractor excavate the zone of test pit backfill down to a depth of about 8.5 to 9 feet. The bottom of the facility excavation including the former test pit area generally consisted of brown fine sand with some silt, which is consistent with the design receptor soils and project plans and is adequate for the infiltration facility subgrade, in our opinion. The contractor informed us that they would be lining the trench with non- woven filter fabric later today and backfilling it with crushed rock. A photograph of the six StormTech chambers installed at the SW facility (four planned and 2 relocated chambers) provided by the contractor is attached as page 3 of 3. Civil Engineering We spoke with the project civil engineer JC McDonnell to confirm the changes to the original plan. Mr. McDonnell indicated that he had been informed about the addition of two chambers to the SW infiltration facility. Mr. McDonnell informed us that relocating the four StormTech chambers originally planned for the NW facility to other facility locations should not reduce the effectiveness of the infiltration system as long as the design elevations and total number of StormTech chambers are not changed. Northeast & Southeast Infiltration Facilities During a phone conversation with the contractor on 8-27-15, we were informed that the remaining two StormTech chambers from the former NW facility location had been added to the NE and SE facilities (one chamber at each facility location). We requested photos or other confirmation of the relocation. The contractor indicated that site photos were taken and would be sent.
