To Whom It May Concern:
During an annual Fire Department inspection it was noted that a life -safety hazard exists
on the exterior stairs at the subject mixed use building. The exterior stairs may be in
danger of collapse and such condition requires immediate attention --at a minimum to
make immediate necessary repairs to stabilize the stairs. Please be advised if the owner
chooses to re -construct the stairs a building repair permit is required; if only a few
individual members need to be replaced or if additional anchors are required for
stabilization, etc. no building permit would be required.
Please inform my office in writing within seven (7) business days as to what repairs will
be made or if the owner intends to apply for a building permit to reconstruct the stairs.
Note, if the stairs are reconstructed the construction will be required to meet today's
building code provisions for all aspects of the work and new stairs may be subject to
Design Board review approval.

Friday, 9:00am to noon and 1.00pm to 4:00pm before October 12, 2005.
