Additional corrections may be required following receipt of corrections and additional information as requested. Fire Suppression Review General 1. Calculations: Hydraulic node 4: This heads covers on area of 165 square feet and will required a discharge of 16.5 gpm. The calculations are only showing 14.9 gpm. NFPA 13, 14.4.4.4.1 2. Calculations: Between nodes 24 and 25, please add the friction loss for the flow switch. The drawings are showing a 2-112 inch riser on the plans but the calculations are using 2 inch riser. IF the riser is larger than 2 inches then please Greenberg Mixed Use Building EECE EDM 06-45 3rd Avenue South & Dayton St. 06-25512006 0679 revise the calculations only otherwise add the friction loss for the flow switch. NFPA 13, 14.4.4.5 (1) 3. Please provide an inspector test valve for the wet system in a remote locations. Show on the drawings and resubmit. NFPA 13 8.16.4.2 (See annex for future guidance) Sheet 4 4. Provide sprinkler head at the top of the elevator shaft. Show on the plans and resubmit. NFPA 13, 8.14.5.4. This is a comment from the first review. You have indicated that the elevator meets the ASME requirements. However, the shaft must be of non combustible construction. Gypsum wall board covering wood frame wood not fall under non-combustible. If the elevator shaft is complete built of non combustible construction then the sprinkler head at the top of the shaft will not be required. NFPA 13, 8.14.5.4 5. The sprinkler head labeled hydraulic node 11 is 12 feet from the wall to the left. Another sprinkler head is needed closer to the wall, probably along the 2 inch main. This also applies to the mirror apartment located to the top of the page from this apartment. NFPA 13, 8.1 Your plans are being reviewed concurrently with the Building Department, Fire Department, Zoning Department and Public Works Engineering. Changes, clarifications or additional corrections may be required subsequent to the Building Department plan review when comments are received from the other concerned departments.
