Project Address: 505 5`h Ave S.
During re -review of the revisions for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. We have redlined the plans where we could, but some issues still need
to be addressed by you as architect. Please submit written responses to the comments below, including
where changes can be found on the plans, and 2 sets of revised plans/documents (affected sheets only) to
Marie Harrison, Permit Coordinator.
1. Fire Shutters (the cut sheet was not enclosed with your letter as noted): Provide manufacturer's
information for the proposed fire shutters at the court retail level including listed/tested assembly
reference, Ere rating, compliance to NFPA 252 or UL 10B (assuming roll -down type shutter). Provide a
detail showing how the shutters will be installed at the windows. They must be automatic -closing per
IBC 715.3.9, IBC 715.3.7.2, and NFPA 80 and tied into the fire alarm system. A revision to the fire
alarm plan will be required, which can be done in the form of an addendum to the approved fire alarm
plans. Please have the Fire Alarm system designer contact John Westfall, Fire Marshal for questions
regarding the addendum. The addendum must be approved and rough -in installation approve by both
the Fire Marshal and State Electrical prior to the framing inspection. (contact State L & I for changes to
electrical plans/permits). Additionally, the Fire Marshal has concerns with the maintenance of fire
shutters being installed on the exterior of the building. Please contact him regarding this issue if they
will be installed on the exterior (phone # 425-771-0215). Another option to fire shutters, is to install a
water curtain with fire sprinklers (see IBC 704.12 exception).
2. Still waiting for the revised roof framing plans (previous item 3) which must be submitted and approved
prior to the framing inspection.
3. Still waiting for the structural revisions/responses to special inspector's non -conforming items (previous
item 6) which must be submitted and approved prior to framing inspection.
