ECDC 19.00.005 requires that a progress building inspection be made in order to renew a building permit for a second year. Our records show that no building inspections have been conducted on this project. Due to the difficult economic situation that presently exists, the City Council approved a code amendment allowing a permit applicant to request a waiver of the required progress inspection from the Building Official in order to renew the permit if work has not started on the project and no code violations exist. This request must be made prior to expiration of the permit. The written request to the Building Official must include: R Statement requesting waiver of progress inspection F Statement that work has not started on the project and no code violations exist on the property (this will be verified by the Building Inspector prior to granting of the waiver) F Reasonable cause unrelated to the neglect or fault of the permittee as to the reason work has not started on the project r• Estimated date by which work will begin If the waiver of the progress inspection is granted, the renewal fee shall be charged at a rate of one half the original building permit fee. If you feel your project qualifies for this exception, please submit your request to the Building Official prior to permit expiration.
