During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to where the changes can
be found on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents to a Permit Coordinator.
Provide the engineering calculations to justify the changes proposed with the revisions
submitted to the city on May 20, 2010.
2. The revised "DETAIL" page of the engineering indicates A35 both sides at SW -2. How are the
A35's, which are meant for wood to wood connections, to be welded or otherwise connected to
the steel beam? Or provide alternative connection detail. Reference location where detail is to
be used. Are HD5A holdowns also required to be installed at the foundation in SW -1 in line
with the second floor holdowns above?
3. Provide a clearer version of the cantilevered floor system. A carpenter (or plans examiner)
could be confused by the drawings and install the doubled joists that were at the two edges of
the now removed cantilevered deck.
