We visited the site today at the request of Phil Tiegs for the purpose of construction monitoring at the
project located at 16911 Talbot Road in Edmonds, Washington.
Upon arrival, we observed that the raingarden grading had been completed. We observed that the
organic soil had been placed within the raingarden area along with some landscaping plants. We
gathered a sample of the organic -rich soil to perform an organic content test in accordance with ASTM
D2974.
We also observed that a block retaining wall had been constructed along the western portion of the
property. We evaluated the retaining wall foundation subgrade by probing with a 1/2 inch diameter steel
probe rod. In general the probe rod penetrated between 2 to 3 inches under moderate pressure. We
interpreted this to be native soils in a medium dense condition. We observed that a 4 -inch corrugated,
perforated drainpipe and washed rock were going to be placed behind the wall.
We have been providing our construction monitoring services on a part time basis. Our opinions and
recommendations are based on our on-site observations only. It is our opinion that the raingarden and
retaining wall have been constructed in accordance with the plans and our recommendations.
