During a review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to where the changes can be
found on the plans, cloud all changes on the revised plans, and submit the revised plans/documents to a
Permit Coordinator. Previous items that recur on this list appear in italics. Thank you.
On page A6.0:
1.Roof Plan - Clarify the callout for the 5-1/8x10-1/2 GLB to be used to support the roof trusses.
Using the typical roof truss layout for a hip roof, a hip-master located 8 feet from the building
corner will result in a point load over the beam. Under this condition, the beam appears to be
over spanned and deflects beyond that allowed per Table R301.7. Provide beam calculations
supporting the designated member with loads reflecting the actual construction/truss orientation.
If a GLB, provide the design, species, and lay-up in the response. The provided spreadsheet
indicates that the load Partial Load E extends from a point 6 feet from the end of the beam to a
point 10 feet from the same end of the 16-foot-total beam, with no loads noted for the remaining
6 feet. This does not appear to reflect the construction of the structure as proposed in the
provided building plans.
