A complete review cannot be performed until the revised plans/documents, including a written response indicating where the ‘clouded’ or otherwise highlighted changes can be found on the revised plans, have been submitted to a Permit Coordinator. Reviews by other divisions, such as Planning, Engineering, or Fire, may result in additional comments. On sheet 2: 1.Detail B – Roof/Eave The review comment response added to the plans states: “The roof will not be furred down to accommodate the R-38 insulation. It will be solid spray foam insulation in existing 2x6 to not cause the need for additional fire blocking and to maintain the height while achieving the required insulation level.”. a.Clarify the difference in the depth of the ‘existing’ rafters noted in the response and of that represented elsewhere on the plans. b.Provide on the plans the following information regarding the ‘solid spray foam insulation’ to be installed: The air permeability of the product/required minimum thickness to be applied · to be considered air-impermeable. The required thickness of product to be installed to meet the minimum · insulation value of R-38. c.Provide on the plans information regarding the compatibility of the asphalt shingle roof covering to be installed with unvented attic/rafter spaces. Many manufacturers do not warrant installations over spray foam insulation.
