During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide revised structural calculations and a revised engineers
memo addressing the items below, and submit revised documents to a permit coordinator in the Development
Services Department. Thank you.
1.In changing the use of the trestle from a temporary structure to a permanent structure, the use of
pressure treated lumber will be required, and has been so indicated on the memo received from the
engineer of record. Subsequently, the joist design shall include the use of incising factors C per
M
NDS Table 4.3.8. It appears that the inclusion of those factors renders the joists to be overstressed. If
it is intended that non-incised treated lumber is to be used, please be sure to verify that 2x12 DF #1
or better is available with a non-incised treatment conforming with the requirements of other City
Departments and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
2.Indicate the type of chemical treatment used for the lumber. The Planning Division strongly
recommends that you use ACZA.
3.Wood connectors must be stainless steel where used near salt water.
