During a review of the plans by the Building Division for the above noted project, it was found that
the following information, clarifications, or changes are needed. A complete review cannot be
performed until the revised plans/documents, including a written response indicating where the
clouded or otherwise highlighted changes can be found on the revised plans, have been submitted
to a Permit Coordinator. Reviews by other divisions, such as Planning, Engineering, or Fire, may
result in additional comments.
General Comments
1.A separate fire sprinkler modification permit will be required for this project. Please review
the information available online regarding Handout B32 here:

2.Please indicate on the plans the path of compliance to the Washington State Energy Code
(WSEC) regarding the energy credits required for an addition per Table 406.2.
3.Verify that the required smoke alarms meet the current code. They should be properly
placed, hard-wired and interconnected per IRC R314.
4.Please identify which window within the master bedroom provides emergency egress per
IRC 310.
5.The plans, as submitted, are incomplete. Please provide the following to help guide proper
review, construction and inspection:
a.Roof framing plan to include dimensions, beam/header specifications and applicable
details/sections as provided in the engineering packet. The note See engineering
packet does not lend itself to efficient inspection procedures, and is not allowable.

b.Similarly, provide a 2 floor framing plan to include dimensions, beam/header/joist
specifications and applicable details/sections as provided in the engineering packet.
c.Foundation plan to include dimensions and applicable details/sections as provided in
the engineering packet.
d.Structural Notes.
e.Lateral specifications including shear walls and holdowns, shear wall schedule and
all applicable details.
