The following is this office's response to the correction letter for the referenced project.
Item 12(a & b): See enclosed calculation packet.
Item 13: Walls referenced in letter at cantilevered floor joists have not been used in calculations
for shear wall analysis, and are not required. However if nailed per SW -1 they Will exceed the
requirements specified by the 2012 IBC, Table 2304.9.1 this is allowed.
Item 14:Referenced wall was not designed to IRC but rather to IBC, Wall has been designed to
rotate around top of footing, with a required bottom restraint force of 1,093.3 lbs per foot of wall
(see Restrained Retaining Wall calculation), a,#4 bar stubbed into footing wall withstand this
shear load. A "hooked bar" induces forces into wall & footing that wall nor footing has been
designed for and is not required.
