The Fire Department provides the following comments and corrections in accordance with the 2003 International Fire Code and Edmonds Community Development Code. Resubmittal is required. Plans reviewed for shell & core requirements only. There will be additional Fire requirements for approval of individual tenant occupancies. The building is not considered a covered mall structure due to tenant entries outside of mall area. Callout Fire Connection Permit. Fire Connection must be submitted at the same time as your civil engineering plans. Fire connection permit is required for the installation of the underground supply for your fire protection system. Underground design must be stamped by registered PE or a Level III (WA) fire sprinkler contractor AND the installer must also stamp the plans. The installer must be either Level III or Level “U” fire sprinkler contractor licensed by the State. Provide three copies of plans showing all valves, vault location, post indicating valve, fire department connection and piping to include size and material, hydraulic calculations, thrust blocking with calculations, pipe bury depth and any and all other materials used and their fire protection listings. RCW 18.160.070 / RCW 18.27.110 Callout Fire Protection Footprint is required (attached). (Scope of fire alarm submittal- for clarification purposes: no correction rqrd): A manual and automatic fire alarm system is required for the purposes of manual alarm activation, egress path detection, off-site sprinkler system monitoring, local alarm audible/visual notification and exterior audibility. Install fire alarm control panel (FACP) in sprinkler riser room. Sht A1.0 Deferred Submittal section: “*Fire Sprinkler and detection system” (Fire alarm is separate permit already noted) Sht A2.0 NEW WALL SECTION is type A (non-fire rated) and cannot used to recognize new building work as separate from existing building for the purposes of fire sprinklering “throughout”. City of Edmonds Office of Fire Marshal   Show all areas in existing building east of Sht A2.0 NEW WALL SECTION (Bldg comments #2 & #16) Detail suggested plans (for clarification purposes: no correction rqrd) for the installation of Type I hood duct routing to exterior for commercial cooking in restaurants (Bldg comment #31). Sheet A2.0.1 & A2.1.1 Combustible materials shall not be stored in exits or exit enclosures. Clarify st arrangement & detailson life safety plans for restaurant and 1 floor retail loading entries. Address a plan with details for restock and delivery of supplies and equipment during business hours that does not reduce the ability to egress for any time. NOTE: Provide minimum 2A:10B:C fire extinguishers throughout common areas and no more distant than 75’ travel distance from any portion of the building. NOTE: New and existing buildings shall have approved address numbers, building numbers or approved building identification placed in a position that is plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These numbers shall contrast with their installed background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters. Building numbers shall be a minimum of 4 inches high with a minimum stroke width of ½ inch. Coordinate with Development Services for tenant suite numbering. Provide Fire Department lockbox. Coordinate with Fire Department for a “Lockbox Authorization Letter” and instructions to obtain and install lockbox outside the sprinkler rooms on your site. 425.775.7720 Sheet A1.0 Callout site POC for Fire Prevention Program Superintendent (IFC 1408) and assure that person will have the authority to stop work and mitigate any environmental or hazardous materials concerns. If such issues arise, contact WA DOE Environmental Report Tracking System (ERTS) 425 649-7229. Sheets A2.0.1 & A2.1.1 Provide corrected occupant load figures for each individual space on life safety plan sheets. Call out fire extinguisher locations and note manual and automatic fire alarm and fire sprinkler protection throughout. Sheets A2.0 & A2.1 Sign door 48 for FIRE SYSTEMS CONTROLS.
