The following project has been evaluated under the 2003 International Codes and
Edmonds Community Development Code.
1. Provide valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) or lead acid battery manufacturer cut
sheet and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) in weatherproof container posted
next to equipment cabinet.
2. Callout number of batteries used for backup or provide volume of battery
electrolyte.
3. Identify sulfuric acid electrolyte hazard with NFPA 704 diamond posted on gate.
NFPA label is blue-2, red-0, yellow-1, white-n/a.

Post weatherproof diamond no less than 8” square on approach to equipment
exterior.
4. Seal penetrations in fire walls and partitions where core-drilling, power or signal
wiring move through fire-rated assemblies. See IBC 712.
