The following project has been evaluated under the Edmonds Community Development
Code, 2003 International Fire Code.
Building is sprinklered throughout with NFPA 13 system (riser located 184 Sunset for
north end of building) with exterior electric alarm.
No apparent building or occupancy fire alarm system appears for interior notification or
monitoring purposes. Existing fire suppression commercial cooking is dry chemical.
1. Sheet A0 Permit Review:
a. Fire sprinkler modifications require separate permit.
b. Fire alarm requires separate permit.
2. Fire sprinkler submittal show existing installation and proposed changes to
sprinkler locations. Verify high temperature heads installed in the area of the
ceiling mounted gas furnace.
3. Automatic fire alarm system requirements include: interior notification for
building sprinkler activation (either riser flow through affected branchline(s) or
north section of building), remote monitoring for area fire sprinkler system
(unless already provided) and interior notification for any installed fire alarm
devices including hood fire suppression system.
4. No manual fire alarm system is required with an occupant load less than 300.
5. Sheet A2 RCP: Delete smoke detectors. Smoke detectors are not required
unless desired. If desired, include proposal with fire alarm permit.
6. Sheet A2 Floor plan: Assure 42” aisle clearance between bar areas at round
table seating area. Aisle boundary starts at a line 19” away from table edge
where seating is located at the table. The back of the fixed bar seats will be the
other aisle boundary. IFC 1013.4.2
7. Sheet A2 RCP: Provide emergency illumination in exit vestibule 108. Additional
emergency illumination fixtures may be required dependent upon final

acceptance test of existing fixtures, specified by IFC requirements and
manufacturer’s installation recommendations.
8. Sheet A2 Floor plan: Callout and identify outside smoking area. Equip with non-
combustible receptacle for smoking materials.
9. Post approved occupant load at main entry.
