Approved fire access roads are required to within 150’ of all portions of the exterior walls of the first story of the building as measured by an approved route around the exterior of the building or facility. Provide automatic fire sprinkler system in lieu of approved access. IFC 503.1.1 2. CIVILS: Provide details and plans for DCDA and fire protection service. See Standard Details for COE at http://www.ci.edmonds.wa.us/engr_toc_std_details.stm . Include details E7.8, E7.8.1, and E7.9. 3. Sheet A1.0 Callout required permits/submittals include: a. Fire Connection Permit Callout Fire Connection Permit. Fire Connection must be submitted at the same time as your civil engineering plans. Fire connection permit is required for the installation of the underground supply for your fire protection system. Underground design must be stamped by registered PE or a Level III (WA) fire sprinkler contractor AND the installer must also stamp the plans. The installer must be either Level III or Level “U” fire sprinkler contractor licensed by the State. Provide three copies of plans showing all valves, vault location, post indicating valve, fire department connection and piping to include size and material, hydraulic calculations, thrust blocking with calculations, pipe bury depth and any and all other materials used and their fire protection listings. RCW 18.160.070 / RCW 18.27.110 b. Fire Sprinkler System Permit Callout Fire Sprinkler System permit IFC 105.7.1 c. Fire Alarm Permit Fire alarm system is required for the purposes of off-site sprinkler system monitoring, local alarm audible/visual notification and exterior audibility. IFC 903.4.2 4. Using auto sprinkler system, you may be able to reduce or eliminate fire resistive separation between occupancies. IBC 508.3.2 5. Sheet A2.1 Call out interior sprinkler riser area. City of Edmonds Office of Fire Marshal   6. Regarding fire alarm system design: a. Collocate fire alarm control panel (FACP) with fire sprinkler riser. b. Automatic detection of common areas and manual pull stations are not required, except a smoke detector is required at the FACP. c. Additional requirements may be imposed depending upon storage height and commodities. 7. Call out storage commodity(s) and storage height in warehouse areas. IFC 907.2.14 8. Sheet A2.1 & A2.2 Provide minimum 2A:10B:C rated portable fire-extinguishers no greater than 75’ travel distance at each floor level. Additional hazardous processes or storage may require additional protection. 9. Sheet A2.1 & A2.2 Call out emergency lighting throughout. 10. Sheet A3.1 Post building address on west elevation in a position plainly legible and visible th from 210 Ave W. These numbers shall contrast with their installed background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters. Building numbers shall be a minimum of 4 inches high with a minimum stroke width of ½ inch. 11. Add note: Provide Fire Department lockbox.
