The following project has been evaluated under the 2006 International Codes and
Edmonds Community Development Code.
1. Note: NFPA 37 compliance is required for generator installation. IMC 915.
2. Note: Maintain generator appliance in accordance with NFPA 110. IFC 604.3
3. Provide manual natural gas shutoff valve for service and emergency no closer than
5’ from generator housing. Provide permanent sign/label indicating purpose. See
piping permit #BLD2007-0920. NFPA 37 A-4-4.1
4. Maintain a working/cooling space of not less than 30”w x 36”d x 78”h in front of
equipment. IFC 605.3
5. The surface under the weatherproof housing shall be noncombustible to a
minimum distance of 12 in. or elevate skid mount on steel grillage above
combustible roof. NFPA 37 3-1.3.2
6. Label transfer switch panel circuit breakers by function.
7. Note: Electrical Generator shall be tested under full load. Operation of the transfer
switch shall be performed by activation from normal to alternate position and return
to normal. IFC 604.4
8. Note: A full load shall be applied for 2 hours. The building load can serve as part or
all of the load, supplemented by a load bank of sufficient size to provide a load
equal to 100% of the nameplate kW rating of the emergency power system.
