During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. The Permit Coordinator informed you of missing submittal
items by phone on 3/23/09 to help expedite this process until the review could be done. We did not
receive further information from you, other than EF-1 is through the wall not the roof, so have
included this information below. Please provide written responses as to where the changes can be
found on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents (or engineer can redline existing plans on file
with the City) to a Permit Coordinator.
1.Please provide ventilation calculations stamped and signed by the Mechanical Engineer to
support his design. (IMC 106.3.1).
2.Supply air intake must be located at least 10 feet from the property line (IMC 401.4). Approved
site plan shows building is 7 feet from the north property line. Revise supply air location and
show it meets 10 feet to property lines and exhaust fan outlets.
3.Since you have confirmed that EF-1 will be through the north exterior wall and not through the
roof, revise fan schedule accordingly (the schedule notes the location of the fan to be the roof not
the wall). EF-1 meets the definition of an environmental air duct (IMC 202).
4.Please provide manufacturer’s information for all equipment, including the fan units, dryers and
compressor.
5.Provide a statement from the Mechanical Engineer that the return air serving the Office portion
of the building is not adversely affected by the air quality in the screen printing area. This was
listed as a condition for mechanical permit 2008-1012.
The Planning Division will be reviewing the aesthetics of the exhaust and supply fans, since they

were not part of the original Architectural Design Board approval. Provide an elevation view of
the north side of the building showing the exhaust fan outlet and new location of the supply air
inlet. This does not have to be drawn by the engineer – it can be provided by the mechanical
contractor or architect
